Bring Them Down

Oscar-nominated Barry Keoghan and Girls star Christopher Abbott are magnificent as a pair of feuding farmers in this gripping rural revenge thriller set in the west of Ireland.

Michael (Abbott) carries a twin burden. Due to his father’s disability, he has sole responsibility for tending his family’s sheep farm and he is wracked with guilt for crashing the car in which his mother died. There are further complications; his ex-girlfriend, also injured in the crash, has married a neighbouring farmer, long antagonistic to Michael’s clan. When he clashes with Jack (Keoghan), a member of this rival family, Michael is drawn into a labyrinthine web of feuds, secrets and violence.

Simultaneously beautiful and brutal, the film reveals the pain and pathos behind generational trauma, with two layered, subtle performances from Keoghan and Abbot.
